Caterpillar News: The Caterpillars are settling in after our first full week together. Jeff Jam came on Wednesday and on Thursday Helen and Chris from Habitat talked about insects. The kids acted out the life cycle of a beetle and observed live larva and beetles.
On Tuesday, a neighbor was having tree work done; many of the children set up chairs in the sandbox and watched the man chop down branches. Most other days outside is a combination of "You can't catch me" on the slide. "Hungry Bear chases the Mice" and "Find the Sequin in the Sandbox"- along with ball play, trucks and digging.
At meeting time we have a repertoire of favorite songs. They also enjoy yoga stories- poses that act out a story about animals. They have internalized the routines and seem to be getting the rhythm of having a rotating parent. As the comfort level rises, the sharing can get more challenging- which just means everybody is comfortable- taking turns is a major part of each child’s work/play.
