Caterpillar News: Today both classrooms worked on the Dinosaur Land Mural- the land part is done (hanging by the bathroom), They will make the dinosaurs on Friday.
Caterpillar Class: The first neighborhood walk went really well. It always is fun to mix it up and go to the park- we leave school shortly after 11, and enjoy our play at the park before returning to school.
Butterfly News: We all are learning our way around Imagination Land. Slowly the play is moving from parallel to collaborative, with children figuring out how to share ideas and supplies! It is so exciting! There have been many different kinds of play spaces and playgrounds and castles for cats and the forest animals that are in Imagination Land.
There are also some photos on the website of this week’s yoga class. Mariana read some pages from My Daddy is a Pretzel, which the kids loved. They also acted out the story of Goldilocks!
Butterfly News: This week has had many moments of messy exploration! On our outside start days we put out pots, pans, mixing spoons, pizza pans, water, and waited to see what the children would do. Everybody turned to the ingredients at hand: wood chips, pine needles, leaves, and sticks. Some people made pizzas--steamy from the warm water and the cool air, others made porridge or soup. Inside the classroom, after some days with gooey, clay-covered hands, on Wednesday, a parent helped the children make clay tea cups. We have also been making group watercolors at the easel, watching the colors mix and move down the paper.
Caterpillar News: We have had some lovely mornings on Avon Hill. There was a tumbling mat and many art possibilities. We have put out the balance beam, the doctor kit, rolled cars down huge cardboard tubes and made a thousand playdough birthday cakes. The best part for me is to see how they are making connections- cheering each other on as they climb up the slide, initiating hide and seek games, looking forward to repeating the ice cream game they played with their buddy the day before in the yard.
